The Music in You

Like many people, music has always been a big part of my life. A song can bring a memory or feeling back to the present as if you were in that moment again.

I can name a song representing almost every phase and stage of my life. “Crush” by Jennifer Paige permeated my teen years to listening to “So Cold” by Breaking Benjamin in my early adulthood. I ushered in my first love with Harry Connick, Jr.'s “More” and “Beautiful Mess” by Jason Marz. Natasha Bedingfield's “Unwritten” held me during one of the darkest years of my life. Ed Sheeran's “Overpass Graffiti” and Panic! at the Disco's “House of Memories” guided me through all the emotions of a divorce after almost 14 years of marriage.

Life's rhythm is the essence of your being. It's the pace at which you live, the pulse of your passion, and the tempo of your dreams. It's about synchronizing with your inner self and moving confidently to your beat.

Your melody is a series of highs and lows. Each experience, challenge, and triumph contributes to your unique life. Embracing this melody means acknowledging and appreciating every note, whether it's a joyful high or a sorrowful low. The music within you is a reflection of your journey.

Music has an incredible ability to heal, soothe, and uplift. It's a source of comfort during tough times and a wellspring of joy in moments of happiness. When life gets overwhelming, tune into your inner music. Let it play, let it heal, and let it remind you of your strengths. Your inner music is a testament to your resilience and a celebration of victories. It's about being authentic and fearless.

Artists like Ed Sheeran, Evanescence, Niall Horan, Rob Thomas, Harry Connick, Jr., and even the New Kids on the Block have infused my life with entertainment, emotions, and words to live by. However, one song has remained a constant throughout my life from the first time I heard it. The song “You' Get What You Give” by New Radicals continues to resonate with me even today -

“But when the night is falling
You cannot find the light
You feel your dreams are dying, hold tight
You've got the music in you

“Don't let go, you've got the music in you
One dance left, this world is gonna pull through
Don't give up, you've got a reason to live
Can't forget, we only get what we give”

It's a powerful reminder that within each of us lies an extraordinary potential, a unique rhythm, and a personal soundtrack that defines who we are and can be. For me, “You Get What You Give” is more than a statement; it's an anthem, a declaration of the incredible potential that lies within.

Life is a beautiful composition waiting to be played. Embrace the music. The world is your stage, and your music is the soundtrack of your journey. Live it loudly, proudly, and joyfully. Be proud of the unique song that you bring to the world's vast concert.

What songs are included on the soundtrack of your life? Have they shaped the way you show up in the world?
